Since 1977, Dr. Walter Fried has been practicing in the North Lake County area. He opened his private practice in Gurnee in 1979 and has been at his current location since 1984. Dr. Fried specializes in small-incision cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation and refractive surgery, including insertion of intrastromal corneal rings for nearsightedness and excimer laser correction of nearsightedness and astigmatism.

Dr. Fried earned both his Ph.D. in physics, and M.D. at the University of Miami in Florida. He completed his medical training in Chicago with a medical internship at Michael Reese Hospital and an ophthalmic residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary. He has written numerous scientific/medical research papers on physics, medical instrumentation and clinical ophthalmology. He holds a patent on an ophthalmic surgical microscope.

A board-certified ophthalmologist, Dr. Fried also is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. He also maintains memberships in the Outpatient Ophthalmic Surgery Society; American College of Eye Surgeons; American Medical Association; Lake County Medical Society; and the Optical Society of America. In addition, he has served as a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary and is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Chicago Medical School.

Brian J. Jacobs, M.D. was born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago. He graduated medical school and received his M.D. degree from Rush Medical College. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Jacobs went on to complete his fellowship in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma at the University of Illinois. He served time as a clinical instructor at Loyola University Medical Center.

Dr. Jacobs currently is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Rush University and the University of Chicago. In 2006 Dr. Jacobs was given the Patient Care Improvement Project award from the American Glaucoma Society. Dr. Jacobs has published book chapters and numerous articles in the field of ophthalmology. Mitchell A. Jackson, M.D., is a board-certified ophthalmologist specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School, completed his internship at Columbus Hospital and his Ophthalmology residency at University of Chicago Hospitals. Currently, Dr. Jackson is the Founder/Medical Director of Jacksoneye and is also a clinical assistant at the University of Chicago Hospitals.

Dr. Jackson has extensive experience in laser vision correction, performing over 30,000 LASIK procedures since its FDA approval for use in 1995. Confident in laser vision correction, Dr. Jackson experienced the LASIK procedure as a patient in May 2000 and is able to explain the procedure from a patient's perspective.

Dr. Jackson is involved in many phase 2, 3 and 4 FDA clinical trials such as the the surachoroidal stent for glaucoma treatment at the time of cataract surgery, the One-Piece Tecnis Multifocal Lens Implant, collagen cross-linking for keratoconus and post-Lasik ectasia, and Dry Eye Treatments including the Tear Science device for lid margin disease. He is also the Medical Monitor on various other ophthalmic studies such as intracameral pharmaceuticals in cataract surgery, and serves as the US Ambassador for the Laser ACE procedure for presbyopia being performed internationally.

Steven D. Reinglass, M.D. is a Board Certified Ophthalmologist and Retina Specialist at Eye Care Center of Lake County with offices in Gurnee, Vernon Hills and Lake Villa Illinois. Dr. Reinglass received his Medical Degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine followed by an Internship at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago and a Residency in Ophthalmology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. In addition, Dr, Reinglass completed a Fellowship in Retinal and Vitreous Surgery at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary in Chicago.

Dr. Reinglass sees many types of eye care patients including those in need of general eye examinations, cataract surgery and lens implant evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy, diagnosis and treatment of macular degeneration (ARMD) and the diagnosis and medical and laser treatment of glaucoma. He is committed to helping patients with cataracts become independent of eyeglasses, reading glasses and bifocals after cataract surgery through his use of near vision Presbyopia correcting lens implants such as the Crystalens Lens Implant, the ReZoom Lens Implant, the AcrySof ReSTOR Lens Implant and the Technis Multifocal Lens Implant.
