Roger Collins, MDRead Full Bio

Dr. Collins welcomes patients with all orthopedic conditions.

Dr. Collins specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopy, and shoulder surgery. His main focus is shoulder surgery, including shoulder reconstruction and shoulder replacement (total shoulder arthroplasty). Special interests include arthroscopic rotator cuff repair and knee reconstruction, including arthroscopic ACL reconstruction. His interests also include worker's compensation injuries.

He is an avid skier and hockey player; he was recruited by the United States Air Force Academy, where he played varsity ice hockey. He received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana followed by his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Loyola University's Stritch School of Medicine in 1982. After completing his orthopedic surgery residency at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, Dr. Collins attained the rank of major and served as chief of the Orthopedic Surgery department at the United States Army's 97th General Hospital in Frankfurt, West Germany, the US Army's primary medical evacuation hospital in Europe.

Dr. Collins joined Greenleaf Orthopaedics in 1990, after completing a fellowship, an additional 1 year of post residency subspecialty training in Arthroscopy and Sports Medicine at the University of Miami, in Coral Gables, Florida where he also served as one of the team physicians for the 1990 Miami Hurricanes' national championship football team. Dr. Collins is the team physician for Round Lake High School.

Dr. Collins instructs orthopedic surgeons in arthroscopy, ACL surgery and rotator cuff surgery at the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery's Learning Center in Rosemont, Illinois and has been a guest lecturer at international conferences in Miami, Florida.

Dr. Collins has been named as one of America's Top Physicians by the Consumer's Research Council of America and was recently selected as a candidate for the Honors Edition of Empire's Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals in Medicine and Healthcare. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.

Originally from Oak Park, Illinois Dr. Collins currently lives in Libertyville with his wife, Paula C. Collins, MD, and their five children.

Dr. Michael Jacker graduated with honors from Harvard University, Cambridge MA in 1976, where he received a John Harvard scholarship, Harvard College scholarship, and a varsity letter in intercollegiate sailing.
